Ethio telecom has signed a Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) to support the country’s digital transformation. The agreement formalizes a collaboration that began in April 2025, when CAMTEL executives visited Ethiopia to observe the implementation of the national digital agenda. Under the partnership, Ethio telecom will provide consultancy and cross-immersion support to assist CAMTEL in modernizing networks, developing digital financial services, and digitizing government operations. Key areas of cooperation include the launch of the "Blue Money" electronic payment service, the establishment of a sovereign government cloud, upgrades to 4G and 5G networks, and organizational changes aimed at automating work systems and enhancing customer service. The agreement also provides a framework for broader collaboration, including enterprise solutions, digital lifestyle services, interconnect frameworks, and value-added services. The partnership is intended to support Cameroon’s digital economy and the delivery of digital services to citizens. Established in 1998, CAMTEL operates the country’s national fiber-optic backbone of over 15,000 km and provides fixed, mobile, internet, and data centre services across all ten regions. Its Tier III certified data centre near Yaoundé is the country’s first facility of this level.
